John McCrea

MANAGING PARTNER

John McCrea has been a Partner with Bialla Partners since 2002 and is co-owner of the firm with Vito Bialla. While a 16-year veteran of executive search, John has important direct experience in the critical functional areas for this search and has been hiring people for most of his 38 year career.  His focus is the C-Suite – particularly CEO, COO, CMO, CRO and CFO searches.

John's cross-industry experience has enabled him to successfully conduct searches in areas ranging from consumer goods to retail to technology to Not-for-Profit Organizations – with functional expertise in C-level executives as well as VPs of marketing, sales and business development. Because of his operational experience with companies similar to those he is recruiting into, he is not only well networked, but is intimate with the requirements of successfully leading and managing organizations.

In the 6 years prior to joining Bialla, John held General Manager, CMO and Business Development positions with successful start-up companies like MarketTools, Egreetings and others, where he created, launched, marketed and/or managed multiple successful Internet applications including Zoomerang.com, Egreetings.com and ArtToday.com.

Previously, John spent 17 years in the advertising agency business. He was a Senior Partner at J Walter Thompson in San Francisco where he ran the technology group globally, and was a founder of Poppe Tyson's West Coast operation. Earlier in his career he worked at such notable agencies as Chiat/Day and Grey Advertising.  During his agency career, John was responsible for such successful brands as Dell Computer, Dos Equis Beer, Toshiba, PepsiCo, Samsung, Bank of America, and others.

John received his B.A. from Hamilton College with graduate work at the University of Southern California.  In his spare time, John plays basketball in the "Over 40" League, rows for the Marin Rowing Association's master's program, backpacks enthusiastically, and plays his guitar when he can squeeze it in
